CHAPTER 2 UPDATE

Hi everyone! I feel really bad for the lack of updates recently, so here's one now. Unfortunately, I've hit a HUGE writer's block with Lovestrings Chapter 2. I really want to make it an improvement from the comic...to the point where I've pretty much completely scrapped a lot of what was in the comic originally.

In this chapter, there are some big changes to not only the designs of the Lovestrings, but the world around them. The world feels waaay more late 90s early 2000s computer-like now. You'll have to wait to see that, though. This is a biiit behind the scenes and isn't a very "professional" way to show them, but here's the new designs of the Lovestrings! It's not a huge change, but I wanted to make them a bit more distinct. (P.S. - I know you can't see it, but don't worry, Kara still has her cute little ponytail thingy.)

Unfortunately, that's pretty much all I can share in terms of how I've been progressing with Chapter 2. It's been a slow ride. I apologize for that.

BUT WAIT! That's not all!

That's right, I do have at least some good news. Granted, the good news only exists because I felt bad for the bad news...but still good news nontheless.

STAGE LAG - A LOVESTRINGS SHORT

Because of how long Chapter 2 has been taking, I figured I'd take some time to animate a quick short with the new designs for the Lovestrings and their world. It is not plot-heavy in the slightest (it will not have dialogue), but it is most certainly Lovestrings. I basically just started on that tonight, but it won't take long at all. I promise. I won't give away much (mostly because it's really short) but have this:

Just made a very small update to the first chapter of Lovestrings (web war). Mostly just small tweaks and optimizations, I won't list them all, but I will state the change (or addition) that was the biggest by far:

I added an opening sequence reminiscent of 90s saturday morning cartoons. Figured that'd be a nice addition to the episodes, given that it's set in the 90s and all. There are tons of references to various popular saturday morning cartoons (specifically the superhero ones), so see if you can spot them all! And, just like those 90s sequences, there are some teases for future plotlines. Without spoiling, of course. No spoilers here. :P

Now, I get back to working on Chapter 2.

Hiya everyone. The more I think about Lovestrings Chapter 1, the more I notice the glaring issues in the plot/story/writing, such as the atrocious pacing and clarity. For that, I sincerely apologize.

The reason for this is because I ripped it directly from the webcomic, and the webcomic, at the time, was not at all a priority in my life. I wrote it really quickly and rushed it out on a whim for fun. This animation is not that, but that carried over because I didn't change anything from the comic writing wise.

Because of this, I would like to assure you that I will be attempting to resolve such issues when adapting Chapter 2 (which also has some weird pacing, if you read the comic you'll know what I mean). I won't promise that I'll succeed, but I will be completely rewriting chapter 2 for the animation so hopefully there's some level of higher quality writing.

Lovestrings Chapter 1 released a few hours ago. I wanted to include some concept art and behind the scenes stuff in the credits, but it didn't look very good, so I'll put it here instead. But first, quick confirmation: I decided that I will be adapting Chapter 2 and beyond (with a lot of changes from the original webcomic). So, yeah. Stay tuned for that.

And now, the behind the scenes stuff.

CONCEPT ART

This one was the very first art of the modern variation of the Lovestrings. There are some minor differences but overall these would go on to mostly be the final designs. Forgive me for the poor drawing skills, I'm not very good at 2D art, hence why I went with 3D for Lovestrings, haha.

This concept art is of a scrapped character named "Encrypto" - he had a similar concept to Randall Ransom, although he isn't evil or even ransomware. He was more of a helpful program, and had a very laid-back, chill personality. Inspired by Prismo from Adventure Time.

FUN FACTS

-Boss Colon does actually have a voice actor, but said voice actor had to drop out of this chapter last minute. So instead, I sampled a voice clip of her screaming "NO!" in a voice chat at the top of her lungs for the dialogue sound.

-In the ancient cavemen times of late 2022, I made up the idea of the Lovestrings in the shower. Except, they weren't called the Lovestrings. And they were neither Kara nor Riley. They went by the horrible, terrible, stupid names "Samu and Martha" (like seriously what was I thinking) and they went by the last name...get ready for this... "Layshun" (WHAT WAS I THINKING?) - the idea was that, haha, get it, Samu Layshun = Simulation, but no, that's really stupid. Like, what about Martha? Marthulation is not a thing. I don't think. And if it is, it's probably something really gross. But it gets worse. They had emojis for heads. I feel sick. All of this was obviously scrapped because that was all very, very stupid.

-The Bovinews news anchor was inspired by two Minecraft players - "Salted" and "TheCampingRusher". A lot of my online friends are either 2b2t or Wynncraft (Minecraft servers) enjoyers, and they both happened to have some influential cow in a suit.

Final Remarks

So yeah, Chapter 2 is coming eventually. I had too much fun with this one not to. I've already started concept art-ing. Feel free to spoil yourself with the far lower quality webcomic linked on my profile. Although, like stated above, you wouldn't exactly be spoiling yourself too much, considering there's going to be a lot of changes.
